RapidClan Camp

Description

:iconclansofthebankside:

The RapidClan camp is centered around a permanent stream in a slight depression in the land. There are many stones lining the banks, and the water that runs through is clear and slow. The bottom of this stream is made up of fine gravel. In the fall, leaves will also begin to cover the bottom. In the center of camp there is a large tree that has fallen across, trunk hanging a few tail lengths above the water. It is a natural bridge connecting the two sides. There is a great deal of plant growth along the edges that hides the camp from sight. The boughs of the surrounding trees hang just around the edges, leaving splashes of sunlight to dance across the waters and play along the banks.

  1. Nursery: A rather homey feeling den beneath the roots of a tree along the bank. Small root hairs hang down from the ceiling and poke out from the walls, giving kits something to play with. This den is also located in an area with open sunlight, and the queens often lay just outside the den and watch their kits play. The roots of the tree extend into the stream, creating a root wad where small fish and crawfish often hide.

  2. Apprentice’s Den: A very open den with nests placed beneath the thick boughs of a low growing bush. The branches trail on the ground, and there is a small opening where cats push aside the growth to enter. A parasitic vine has infested the branches, which helps to choke out any open spaces in the growth, keeping the den safe from rainwater.

  3. Warrior’s Den: A den between the thick trunk of a bush and a tall stone. The branches of the bush are pushed against the rock, making a tangled roof that prevents rainwater from entering.

  4. Leader’s Den / Crossing Log: This fallen tree, suspended above the stream running through the center of camp, is a great hub of activity. Although the water is shallow and slow moving, younger cats or individuals not looking to get wet will climb atop the log and use it to get from bank to bank. The bark is thick and scarred with clawmarks. The inside of the log has rotted away on the root end, and it is inside this hollow that the Clan leader sleeps. For meetings, cats will climb atop the log and stand in the very center. This allows them to address the entire camp, encompassing both sides of the bank.

  5. Elder’s Den: A shady spot where the boughs of two bushes cross and tangle. This forms a comfortable den that has easy access. Elders will often leave the den to bask in the dapples of sun along the shore.

  6. Medicine Den: This den is the only place in the RapidClan camp situated underground. A small lip in the stone was taken advantage of by some burrowing animal in the past, and was used as the mouth of a den. It is common belief that it was dug out by a muskrat. The den itself is large and ovular in shape. The roof is solid stone, but the walls are soil. There are some stones jutting out from the walls where herbs are stored. These stones have mostly been placed there by the cats, while larger shelves were just happy accidents. Because a great amount of moisture condenses on the roof, a lot of hanging plants and moss have begun to grow inside, and the medicine cats need only reach up and scrape off the plants they need, rather than going out to find some.

  7. Fishing Pool: A large pool of slow moving water that harbors several types of small fish and crawfish, as well as a fair number of aquatic plants. The water reaches up to an average warrior’s chest. Cats love to wade and catch small prey items here. On hotter days the elders may even come out to sit and cool off.

  8. Bigtop Rock: A tall rock that breaches the tops of the bushes. It is directly in the sun, and cats love to bask on the shelves. In times of fun, apprentices will often jump off the lower shelf into the Fishing Pool.
